| Abstract | Collected together and codified sociual cues and speces for human-human interactions. Often appied to similar Human-robot scenarios. Note: Noe indication of how measurements were actuall y made of human-human social distances. Only relevent for Northern USA or western people. Other cultures may be closer (mediteranean, arabic etc) or further away (uSA??) Empasized that at different distances, difference social and physiacal cues and communications possible. Therefore peronal space serves as a mileiu within whicch different degrees and forms of social contact are possible (desirable?) Hall relied almost entirely on qualitive assessment/descriptions of personal space. His spatial zones are described in terms of arm lengths and contact distances were estimated by observations based on arm reach. |
